On Sunday, February 28th, 2010, I was privileged to represent the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) by singing the National Anthem on the floor of Philips Arena in Downtown Atlanta, GA before a Hawks game. It was the day of an event called The Sugar Show sponsored by the Georgia Chapter of the JDRF. This is a special event for children and parents, such as myself, of children with type 1 diabetes. I was especially proud that my son, McKee, who has type 1 diabetes, stood with me on the floor as I sang.

It was an incredible experience and I greatly appreciate Julie Abes, the Public Outreach Coordinator for the Georgia Chapter of the JDRF for thinking of me and assisting in getting me approved for the event. I also thank Denise Sicheneder, the Director of Group Sales and Service with the Hawks Atlanta Spirit for her assistance in getting me approved for the event as well. Sincere thanks. - Arlan Gibson
