These photos and video were shot on Monday, April 6th, 2009 at the world famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN. It's one of, if not "the", most famous venues in the world dedicated to songwriters and songs. Songwriters are featured in a listening room enviornment from 6pm-9pm. It's definately a right of passage for all aspiring songwriters that pass through Nashville to play The Bluebird Cafe. It often takes more than one effort to play there as the monday night, open-mic style songwriters night is always packed with songwriters that want the experience of playing there.
I tried to play there on August 25th, 2008 when I was in Nashville having my new CD mastered but wasn't able to due to the number of people that signed up. There's usually time for 25-30 songwriters on Monday night but there are usually about 50+ songwriters that sign up. If you don't get chosen the first time you go, you get a little stamped piece of paper that gives you priority the next time you are there. When I was there in August 2008 I didn't play but did get the little stamped paper. This time when I was there I was the last to walk in, because I was running late, but the first one chosen to play. I did a couple of new original songs called I Want A Beer and Tombstone. I had a great time and will always remember the experience of playing there for the first time as it is a bit of a first step on the yellow brick road in Nashville. - Arlan
