These photos were taken Saturday, March 14th, 2009 at and around The The Jimmie Rodgers Museum at Highland Park in Meridian, MS.  The Singin' Brakeman, Jimmie Rodgers, also known as The Blue Yodeler, was born in Meridian and became The Father of Country Music, and Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee #1.  I have been a life-long fan and proudly tell anyone that'll listen that I'm from the hometown of Jimmie Rodgers.  I can't resist taking family and friends, especially bandmates and musicians, to the museum when in Meridian.  The admission fee is a bargain at $5 to get an upclose and personal view of such an amazing figure in country music and Americana pop culture. I suggest all country music fans visit the museum when passing through Meridian.  I also recommend you purchase the RCA CD entitled, The Essential Jimmie Rodgers, as no country music fan CD collection is complete without the recordings of Jimmie Rodgers. - Arlan *Click pics for a larger image.  Right click to save. The following photos are of Meridian's Dentzel Carousel, also located at Highland Park, and is just a stones throw from The Jimmie Rodges Museum.  It was manufactured in 1896 and arrived in Meridian, MS at it's current location in 1909.  If you go the the Jimmie Rodgers Museum, be sure to walk over to the carousel and take a ride on a piece of history! - Arlan
